People from across North America are hearing and learning about a woman named Renee Boje from musicians Johnny Punish and the Shabbabs.
Johnny Punish and the Shabbabs have taken a song originally performed by "The Clash", ("Julie's Working for the Drug Squad"), and came up with a song called "Renee and the Drug Squad" in support of Renee Boje’s fight against extradition from Canada, and her certain imprisonment if returned to the United States.
Arrested in California eight years ago (1997) for helping care for a Medical Marijuana garden, Renee Boje fled to Canada to avoid ten years to life in prison for not speaking out against her friends and fellow activists.
Now living in Vancouver Canada and married with a three year old son, Renee had been hoping for a more compassionate ruling by the Canadian Justice Minister, Irwin Cotler, who had previously been known for his fair rulings on human rights, and issues pertaining to women and other minorities.
